Welcome the Founder of fully circular underwear brand - One Essentials!

Launched by Carrie Davies, who studied at London College of Fashion under Professor Dilys Williams, the founder and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, ONE Essentials creates inclusive, stylish, all-day t-shirts, sweatshirts and underwear designed to radically reinvent the everyday wardrobe.

Following a career working for the likes of Barbour and Monsoon, Carrie felt trapped and unable to make real, positive progress towards ethical fashion.

ONE Essentials was born, focusing on creating beautiful, high-quality pieces – and starting with the most disposable item in our wardrobe; underwear. It also provides a full, transparent update on product impact throughout each stage of the customer journey.

Irina Mckenzie is the Founder and CEO of FABCYCLE, which is a social enterprise based in Vancouver with the mission of reducing textile waste by diverting usable materials from ending up in landfills. They work directly with local apparel manufacturers like factories, fashion designers and schools to collect the scraps, off-cuts, deadstock and ends of rolls that are left during the apparel production process and reuse or recycle them.

In this episode, we're breaking down what pre-consumer textile waste is, the challenges in the industry with recycling and repurposing both post and pre-consumer textile waste and the systems that we need to see for circularity to be attainable in fashion.
